Day three of our holiday brought sunshine, so we decided to head out on a long walk over the cliff tops. I love Dorset in Autumn when you have a mixture of sea, sand and colourful leaves. The beaches are more empty and the lone few children playing there are no longer paddling in the sea in the heat of summer but building sandcastles in coats and wellies. It was a fairly mild October day, which made it the perfect walking weather. With the sea below us we headed over the cliffs - out of Swanage and into the neighbouring town of Studland. The stretches of beach in Studland are really lovely to walk along and the cafe right at the end of the beach serves delicious cakes and hot drinks. They even had cupcakes for dogs.
On our way back over to Swanage we stopped at Old Harry Rocks (fourth and fifth picture down). My mum doesn't like it here, as it's right on the edge of the cliff, and always stays well away from the side. On a sunny day the rocks are an iconic sight, and the view into the rocky pools below is quite daunting. After our stop we walked the last few miles back into Swanage, and went down the cliff steps and onto the beach. The almost deserted beach made for some good pictures.
